• Ownership of the Mechanical and Surgical Access product research and development strategy, including defining a strategic vision for next generation systems based on patient and clinician needs, technology advancements and business opportunities.
• Drives functional excellence globally for the team that researches and develops new and sustaining products, projects, and technologies. Sets best practices and functional/technical direction for the job function across the organization.
• Oversees the development and integration of complex Class III implantable and non-implantable medical devices, learning from post-market experiences to inform future products.
• In cooperation with Marketing, leads efforts to identify and discover new product opportunities, strategies and target markets that are consistent with the company's objectives and strategic plan related to mechanical design and surgical access for Neuromodulation products. Develops good understanding of user expectations and important product features.
• Plans, budgets, and executes all milestones of medical device development according to SOPs, international standards, regulations and business expectations.
• Identifies technologies and develops intellectual property critical to future business growth.
• Active participant in the due diligence process of acquisitions.

• Collaboratively contributes to defining short and long term Neuromodulation divisional strategy.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or an associated discipline
• Minimum of ten years of R&D and project management experience in medical device environment with management responsibility
• Expertise in all phases of research and development of medical devices and/or surgical tools/procedures (from inception to manufacture transfer and integration of real world experience)
• Organizational depth and diversity of experience with a working knowledge of new product realization and strategic thinking. Successful track record of taking a product from concept to commercialization
• Significant functional, technical, and industry knowledge to anticipate developments and identify opportunities for innovation
• Ability to travel 20% of time
• Strong experience with Class III implantable devices
• Strong experience in related fields, including spine, pain management, robotic surgery, or neurosurgery
• Skilled leading global teams in product development and problem solving in the medical device space
• Proficient in forming, leading, and driving discussions with multiple stakeholders/audiences
• A self-initiator with a strong business acumen
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
