As a Vice President within the Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Asset Managers Credit Risk Team, you will have responsibility for a portfolio of asset managers and funds, serving as primary coverage for those credit relationships and reporting into the group leader. You will manage a client portfolio, which involves overseeing transaction structures, conducting counterparty due diligence, and continuously monitoring exposure from traditional bank lending products, structured financing, and capital markets trading activities. The Asset Managers Credit Risk Team manages exposure to North American based Traditional and Alternative Asset Management firms, Private Capital Sponsors, and related client entities that are that are industry leaders engaging across the spectrum of investment strategies.
Job responsibilities
- Perform client due diligence and financial analysis and summarize in written credit approval memos and reviews
- Review and approve counterparty trading activity, including recommending collateral requirements as well as structural enhancements
- Provides credit expertise in structuring both loan and derivative transactions
- Set and communicate credit exposure appetite across trading products utilizing internal exposure methodologies
- Oversee legal negotiations for traded products and traditional lending
- Serve as principal contact for and partner with colleagues from Markets Trading and Structuring, Prime Brokerage, Investor Client Management, Treasury & Security Services, Legal, IB Coverage, and Debt Capital Markets
- Assess creditworthiness of clients and assign appropriate credit ratings and maintain updated credit research on a portfolio of clients and lead group wide efficiency projects
- Remain current on all aspects of the credit relationship, including exposure, threshold management, compliance, potential problems and opportunities.
- Lead credit due diligence for bank and bond executions in tandem with M&A transactions, LBOs, and portfolio refinancings
- Supervise, review and provide input on analysis and seeks credit and regulatory approval for all transactions individually or as part of a deal team
- Perform Agent role for closed syndicated transactions, including negotiating and documenting amendments and waivers
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 6+ years of credit risk experience within financial services (investment banking or similar) – particularly leveraged, subscription and structured financing
- Knowledge of Asset Management, Financial Technology and/or Financial Institution groups (FIG) industries
- Strong credit background and analytical skills - demonstrates a solid grasp of accounting and corporate finance
- Solid familiarity with leveraged finance underwriting and credit agreements
- Solid understanding of financial products and market dynamics
- Strong interest in client interaction and possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to perform well under pressure on teams in a demanding environment
