Responsibilities:
Serve as a strategic partner to US Card executives to plan and prepare effective, thoughtful and engaging internal communications that educate, inform, connect and inspire team members.
Lead all facets of communications including all-employee meetings, digital/video storytelling, leader blogs, speaking engagements, team events and organizational change management.
Elevate stories from within client group to fuel our US Card-wide editorial calendar
Evaluate performance for communications based on real-time metrics and other key performance indicators to recommend strategy and refine as needed.
Partner with HR, Chiefs of Staff, DIB teams, line of business communicators, Corporate Communications, and other partners to deliver on tactics and strategic outcomes.
Provide best-in-class people leadership to a team of executive communicators supporting other leaders across US Card by amplifying skills, fostering inclusion, providing direct feedback and coaching, and holding a high bar for talent and performance
Requirements:
Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
Ability to provide strategic communications thought leadership to senior executive leaders
Innovative approach to bringing enhancements and efficiencies to strategies, processes, and interaction/operating models
Deliver empowering, inclusive, and inspiring people leadership
Proficient at creating communication cascades within matrixed organizations
Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with an ability to consistently execute multiple, and sometimes competing, activities and complex projects to high quality conclusion, on-time, and within budget
A track record of consistently acting with urgency as needed
Strong customer-orientation and proven track record of collaborative work relationships
A typical day in the life of this Senior Manager could look like:
Participate in a senior leadership team meeting to stay informed of strategic priorities and have a voice at the table influencing conversations and thinking
Consult with an executive on talking points for their upcoming speaking engagement and work with our design team to create the supporting slides and materials
Lead a team meeting and individual 1:1 conversations with direct reports where you provide coaching and feedback and inspire a vision for the future
Strategize with HR partners on ways to leverage communications to address feedback from the latest associate survey
Draft a leader communication to inspire the team, recognize recent big wins and keep team members informed of how we’re delivering against our priorities
Meet with the Chief of Staff to understand the deeper business context that should be communicated to the broader associate population
You’ll need to wear many hats including:

Diplomat:You’re comfortable and adept with influencing senior leaders, you have a strong customer-orientation and proven track record of collaborative work relationships. You thrive in a matrixed environment where direct control is limited and the need to influence is high.
Creator:You’re a strong, autonomous leader who is able to establish a vision and deliver it through our key partners - and you can work your creative muscle in developing communications and campaigns that grab attention and get results.
Strategist:You have a deep understanding of where the team wants to go and can develop the communications strategy to help them get there.
Project Leader:You’re detailed- and process-oriented, with a natural tendency to identify and mitigate risks. You’re experienced managing several projects and initiatives at once.
Juggler:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or Military experience
At least 8 years of experience in communications in a business environment or an agency environment
At least 4 years of people leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
Strong business acumen and executive presence with a history of cultivating trusting relationships with executive leaders.
The ability to distill complex and sometimes voluminous content into clear, concise and engaging communications.
Experience leveraging data to create and execute communications strategies, plans, programs and events.
