In this role, you will bring your knowledge, experience, and ability to lead technical experts and apply innovative solutions in planning, design, construction, and operations to tackle transit and rail challenges. You'll initiate or escalate the correction of any conditions that may adversely affect the project's timely completion.

This position requires you to work from the client's office on a part-time basis; relocation or current residence in South Florida (Palm Beach, Broward, or Miami-Dade) is preferred.

As a Senior Commuter Rail Project Manager, you will:

  • Take the role of Project Manager for the implementation of the Broward Commuter Rail project, planned to operate on the Florida East Coast (FEC) corridor, connecting to the Miami-Dade NE Corridor at Aventura. The BCR project is in the process of receiving FTA New Starts funding to enter Project Development. Key aspects of the project include determining the crossing at the New River (bridge or tunnel), close coordination with the FTA Region 4, and regional transportation partners (FDOT, SFRTA, DTPW, FEC, Broward MPO, and Brightline). You will need to be dynamic and able to make important strategic and implementation decisions, providing recommendations to the client to ensure the project's success.
  • Maintain close coordination and communication with project team members, the client, the Federal Transit Administration, and the Federal Railroad Administration. You will oversee the project through planning, design, and construction phases.
  • Communicate with and present to clients, project stakeholders, and the public.
  • Manage external clients and stakeholders, as well as internal staff, to complete work on time and within budget, including interfacing with teams working on related programs and projects.
  • Coordinate and/or oversee grant applications, preliminary and final design, procurement construction, and readiness activities with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee interdisciplinary teams and provide review and guidance during the development of deliverables.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and serve as a liaison between clients and other agencies when necessary.
  • Mentor and lead other transit staff while fostering an environment where innovation and differences are openly shared, embraced, and incorporated into the team's activities.
  • Assist with proposal development and participate in interviews and presentations.
  • Engage in the Jacobs growth process and collaborate with Sales teams.
  • Take an active role in US transit industry trade organizations, including presenting papers, publishing articles, and serving on select committees.

Here's what you'll need
  • Relevant degree in Engineering and or Construction Management
  • 15+ years of experience overseeing commuter rail projects or large-scale transit/rail programs
  • Have significant experience managing rail and transit projects through the Small Starts/New Starts FTA process
  • Understand NEPA and PD&E processes with FTA and FDOT
  • Demonstrated experience managing large scale infrastructure delivery operations with varying degrees of technical, financial, strategic, team and client/external stakeholder complexity
  • Demonstrated understanding of transit assets, capital programming, program controls, program delivery, commercial management, scheduling, cost control and other key disciplines necessary to deliver a complex transit capital improvement program
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts and demonstrate extensive experience in partnership-building, agency coordination planning, and program experience

Ideally, You'll Also Have:

  • Master’s degree
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of FL
  • Domestic and/or international experience on major transit projects/programs
  • Experience with program governance and a variety of program management organizational models
  • Technical expertise in one or more areas of transit infrastructure
  • Previous work experience navigating local, state, and federal permitting agencies and requirements
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders and end users
