In this role, the Project Manager will support other Jacobs Program and Project Managers provide excellent client service while expanding your knowledge and experience in multiple Rail and Transit projects. The PM may support planning and major capital improvement projects related to bus, light rail, commuter rail, freight, transportation infrastructure, or projects that interface with transit systems; managing quality, and performing efficient task delivery in a team environment. This role supports our growing southeastern U.S. Southeast Rail and Transit Market, and is specifically for transit and rail related projects which are led by different public and private entities in the region. Such projects include, but are not limited to project planning, funding and capital plan development, program scheduling, design coordination, cost estimating, negotiations, project implementation, grant management, and coordination with multiple municipalities, counties and transportation partners . The professional will also support the internal Jacobs project management tasks to achieve efficient financial and safe project execution. More specific tasks may include:

  • Assist in coordination with third party consultants and contractors, and other outside agencies as needed.
  • Use advanced techniques to modify and extend engineering theories, procedures and practices.
  • Assist in planning and conducting work requiring evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/ modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Assist in development of scopes, estimates, schedules, and participate in negotiations.
  • Assist in oversight of third-party contracts for design, construction, maintenance and operations of rail systems
  • Assist in resolving a variety of complex problems (i.e. conflicting stakeholder interests, schedule constraints, and funding needs) on multi-faceted projects.
  • Review or provide design plans, prepare or review technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates for infrastructure and vehicles.
  • Participate in contract bidding and administration.
  • Lead, coordinate and review the work of less experienced planners, scientists, engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project.
  • Have good verbal and written communications skills that can be improved professionally to deliver messages to members of Jacobs leadership and C Suite/Directors on the client side.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communications skills that clearly communicate work instructions, deadlines, priorities, and risks.
