Your Key Responsibilities
- Represent the team as a lead for the Japan Desktop/Print Services. You will mentor staff, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure that the team provides high-quality services to the internal customers.
- Strong background in computer hardware, software, and networks. You must be able to manage and lead the team to troubleshoot Windows desktop environment, as well as various office productivity tools, and specialized applications.
- Manage relationships with software and hardware vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that the organization gets the best value for its investments in IT resources.
- Lead the team to ensure that all desktop-related issues are resolved promptly and efficiently, minimizing downtime for users. You should have excellent communication skills to interact with non-technical staff and understand their needs, translating them into technical solutions.
- Ability to build a good relationship with Global and local stakeholders by participating in local meetings and Global meetings (i.e. Desktop Management, Windows Incident, Stakeholders meetings).
- Lead the team to manage the daily operations and coordination of global and local project and implementation such as Autopilot, Windows 11 migration, local specific PC models onboarding, replacement of current ThinClients and Hosted Desktop Infrastructure which requires excellent technical skills.
- Manage Level 3 Operational Escalations of BAU issues raised by Level 2 (Onsite Support) and Level 1 (Service Desk), works with local and global Infrastructure teams for resolution. Escalate to Level 4 (Engineering) owners globally or locally as necessary.
- Lead the team to ensure that PCs receives the regular security patches, application updates, Windows 11 upgrade and updates with minimal impact to end users.
- Involves with projects such as MS Office upgrades, Windows WUfB upgrades, Windows 11 upgrade, Local hardware maintenance of drivers and utilities (local makers, port replicators, monitors, scanners, printers), etc.
- Work with the team to implement Windows 365 and modern technologies such as AI, Copilot, etc.
- Manages Incidents based on ITIL principles.
Skills and attributes for success
- Strong team leadership skills
- Deep knowledge of technology specially computer hardware, software, and networks
- Excellent communication skills - listening, written and verbal communication in Japanese and English
- Knowledge and experience on PC building process and application packaging process
- Knowledge of Microsoft security updates (WSUS) and application deployments (SCCM), Azure and Intune.
- Develop working relationships with staff and management at all levels
- Analytical skills to solve complex problems
- Logical thinking to present/justify proposals, solutions and decisions
- Multitasking, ability to prioritize own work and that of others
- Manage repetitive tasks with high accuracy
- Supportive of continuous improvement in relation to own performance and development and that of the wider team.
- Work independently with limited supervision
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of IT experience to support Windows desktop
- 3+ years of IT team leadership experience
- ITIL certified
- Understanding of IT security & its importance
- Microsoft Office 2016 and Microsoft Office 365 knowledge
- Windows 10/Windows 11 knowledge
- Active Directory, Group Policy, Software distribution, Azure and Intunes knowledge
- Intel compatible hardware knowledge (Desktops, Laptops, Printers, Mobile Devices)
- Knowledge of Server, Active Directory, Networking concepts
- IT budget management experience
Ideally, you’ll also have
- IT experience in professional services industry or financial industry
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure experience
- Mobile Applications experience
- Project Management Certification
