Job Description
In this role, you will take part in projects leading to the timely launch of commercially viable aquatic animal health products with special focus on vaccines for cold water aquatic species.
As Section Lead Bacteriology, you will report to R&D Site Lead and collaborate internally will be with other R&D sections and departments (also internationally), support departments, Regulatory department, production, and Quality control. External collaboration will include Universities, Governmental Research Institutes and relevant regulatory bodies.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Take lead in identification, isolation, and characterization of putatively new bacterial pathogens.
Within bacteriology, keep the R&D organization up to date with scientific development, literature, regulatory issues, and guidelines. Function as the subject matter expert in the responsible area and provide support, coaching, training, or assistance to other team members.
Plan and coordinate activities of the team (2 team members) in view of priorities, available resources, and overall efficiency.
Plan and document continuous development of instrumentation, facilities, and staff to ensure “state-of-the-art” know-how. Identify and suggest future trends and needs within bacteriology.
Write laboratory procedures, study protocols and study reports. Present research results both internally and externally.
To be successful in this role, you're expected to have:
Ph.D. with a specialization in microbiology, immunology or related field.
Education in Laboratory Animal Science (LAS) is preferable.
At least 5+ years’ experience in aquatic animal health industry. Alternatively, relevant post-doc experience would be strongly favorable, like in-depth knowledge of fish farming, disease occurrences and epidemiology.

People management skills are preferable.
Proficient in spoken and written English.
