Job Description

Territory Sales Manager Animal Health

Responsibilities include, however not limited to:

  • Achieve sales targets and activity levels for assigned territory and products.
  • Develop and implement territory plans to achieve sales targets, regularly revising activity against achievement and market conditions.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with rural resellers and farming clients e.g. Managers, Field Representatives, Technicians and Business Managers.
  • Utilise the technical services team within territory to influence customers and clients to assist in delivery of technical messaging and drive sales.
  • Identify customer needs and clearly communicate how our company’s Animal Health products and services can provide solutions.
  • Identify and participate in all defined promotional tactics with the goal of maximising sales.
  • Provide technical and sales training to wholesalers and customers to ensure accurate messaging is being transferred to the end user.
  • Ensure product complaint investigation, pricing queries, compliance issues and follow up requests are executed appropriately and within required timelines.
  • Provide corporate sales presentations to relevant consumer groups, customers and wholesalers as required.
  • Regularly analyse customer data (through Salesforce and other sources) to assist with territory, customer and pre-call planning, and the identification and targeting of high value customers.
  • Record customer interactions within CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) to inform next call objectives, and to assist in building a single view of the customer to inform marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge, as well as a broader understanding of Animal Health issues.
  • Ensure effective communication across the sales and marketing team, share knowledge and participate positively in sales team meetings and marketing-initiated forums.

What You Must Have

  • Tertiary business or science degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated commercial success in a sales role is preferred.
  • Good understanding of local farming practices within New Zealand.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other technologies (e.g. iPad) essential.
  • Ability to build long term relationships.
  • Ability to convey technical information in a manner easily understood.
  • High level of flexibility and resilience.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to problem solve in a logical manner.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including audio visual presentations.
  • Excellent organisational skills and timeliness in responding to customer needs.
  • Ability to work well with others, demonstrating collaboration and inclusive behaviours.
  • Self-starter with initiative who works well with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to make decisions on a day-to-day basis concerning normal activities.
