Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Technical Content Professional, you will create, develop, curate, and analyze technical content for digital self-service products. This includes technical documentation, UX content, embedded assistance, training, blogging, and support content delivered in various online and print formats. You will advocate for users during the engineering and design processes, ensuring content is easy to find, useful, and current. Technical Content Professionals may specialize in UX content, product documentation, UI writing, embedded assistance, technical writing, multimedia production, visual design, instructional design, and digital learning.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Content Creation: Experience in designing, developing, and publishing IBM technical content that is easy to use, understand, and find. This includes technical documentation written in DITA or Markdown, UI content, product tours, messages, API documentation, multimedia (videos, graphics), support content, chatbots, training, nurture, and community content.
  • Content Management: Proficiency in managing the end-to-end authoring process, including design, development, editing, production, translation, and life cycle management.
  • Research: Strong research skills to gather data, analyse it, and extract insights for developing content strategies and meeting business needs through audience analysis, product research, and competitive analysis.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience: Up to 6-7+ years of experience creating technical content
  • Markup languages: Utilize markup languages such as DITA XML, Markdown, and HTML, along with authoring tools (Oxygen, VSC) to create structured and accessible content.
  • Concept Simplification: Simplify complex technical concepts from multiple sources into consumable content that drives user actions. Ensure the content is clear, inclusive, accessible, and translated for a global audience.
  • Writing: Utilize writing skills to ensure clarity and adherence to IBM Style, making technical concepts understandable to the audience, using consistent terminology, and adapting content to user types.
  • Knowledge of agile and continuous delivery development environment and working in a dynamic team-based development environment across multiple geographies.


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Version Control: Proficiency in utilizing Version Control systems such as Git or GitHub for efficient content management and collaboration.
  • Design: Understanding of Design Thinking practices and to create intuitive and user-centred interface documentation.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing (NLP): Interest and ability to learn how to infuse AI into our content operations
  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, IT, Communications, or related field, or a technical Degree
