Purpose of the role

Reporting to the Diagnostic Team Manager of the Center for Diagnostic Solutions, you will apply a broad and detailed technical and functional knowledge of lab methods and ensure optimization and improvement of these techniques and processes. You will implement new lab techniques and processes and serve as a source of information for your colleagues. You will represent the department in internal and external meetings related to the techniques that you are responsible for.

Main responsibilities

  • Applying your extensive technical and functional knowledge to serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in immunological assays (approx. 50% of time).
  • Planning and performing a defined set of diagnostic assays, ensuring accurate and timely results (approx. 50% of time).
  • Organizing, conducting, and reporting multiple lab assays and processes.
  • Collaborating closely with fellow scientists and stakeholders within our organization and representing the department externally in your area of expertise.
  • Act as go-to person for colleagues in your area of expertise.
  • Involved in review of lab techniques, test transfers, test validation etc.
  • Contributing to the review of lab techniques, test transfers, test validation, and acting as a study supervisor or responsible scientist in (GLP) studies Supervise and train trainees and new employees.
  • Assisting in general tasks related to GLP, SHE, IT, and/or laboratory coordination.
  • Supporting your manager in daily tasks, such as reviewing assay trends (SAS) and executing dedicated LIMS actions.

Your profile

  • HBO degree in Life Sciences.
  • Significant work experience in immunological and virological techniques, such as ELISA, AlphaLISA, haemagglutination inhibition assays, virus neutralization assays, immunofluorescence assays; preferably in a veterinary diagnostic setting.
  • Experience with quality systems like GLP, ISO etc.
  • A pragmatic, proactive, and enthusiastic personality, coupled with the ability to work independently.
  • Team player with strong communication skills in Dutch as well as English.
  • A flexible attitude, the ability to make ad hoc decisions and strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Living at a reasonable distance of Boxmeer.
