As the Assistant Resident Engineer of the marine works, you will report to and support the Resident Engineer or Senior Resident Engineer in supervising the contractor’s daily activities specifically related to marine construction works, but you may also be required to perform other duties as required. The projects comprise of all marine construction elements and include but not limited to dredging, reclamation, ground improvement, beaches, quay walls, revetment, groynes and breakwaters.
In joining Jacobs you will:
• Safety Protocols: Monitoring and report on adherence to safety protocols for all marine construction operations. Participate in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.
• Manage your inspection team to conduct detailed inspections of marine structures, dredging sites, and reclamation areas to assess conditions and identify any potential issues.
• Ensure your team witnesses and verifies quality testing to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications.
• Assist the Resident Engineer with review and verification of contractor payment applications
• Assist the Resident Engineer with review and verification of contractor variations and claims
• Must have the ability to draft contractual letters and prepare minutes of meeting
• Review and comment on contractor shop drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans.
• Review, comment and monitor the contractors baseline programme and highlight issues if it is not being achieved
• Coordination: Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to verify construction operations align with overall project timelines and objectives.
• Problem-Solving: Identify and suggest solutions to technical issues that arise during construction in coordination with the Resident Engineer.
• Reporting: Prepare detailed inspection and progress reports that include findings, recommendations, and any incidents or deviations from the plan.
• Environmental Monitoring: Monitor and document environmental impacts of the marine construction activates. Check compliance with environmental regulations and best practices.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related field
• MENA Marine Based Experience
• Large marine reclamation and marine edge experience
• Past leadership role or assistant leadership role on a construction supervision project dealing with marine construction works.
• 8+ years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.
• Relevant IT skills (MS Office 365, Aconex, AutoCAD, AutoDesk etc.
• Excellent English written and oral communications skills.
