As a Resident Engineer (Bridges) you will require to:
- Provide overall leadership and management of construction projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Monitor and report on project progress, identify potential risks and implement mitigation measures.
- Ensure that construction activities comply with design specifications, engineering standards, and local regulations.
- Review and approve construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams.
- Manage and administer construction contracts, including FIDIC contracts.
- Prepare and review contract documents, correspondence, and claims.
- Resolve contract disputes and claims efficiently and effectively.
- Manage project finances, including budgeting, cost control, and cash flow management.
- Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to achieve favorable terms and conditions.
- Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures on construction sites.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
- Ensure that quality standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee the design, installation, and testing of post-tensioning systems for bridge girders.
- Ensure compliance with post-tensioning standards and regulations.
- Manage the construction of marine pile foundations for bridges and marine structures.
- Select appropriate pile types and construction methods.
- Supervise pile-driving operations and quality control.
- Plan and coordinate the complex erection of bridge superstructures, including concrete decks, and other components.
- Develop and implement safe and efficient erection methods.
- Monitor and control lifting operations and heavy equipment usage.
Here's what you'll need
As a successful candidate for the role, you will require to have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on long-span bridges and marine works.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget.
- Strong knowledge of FIDIC contract forms and their application.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise technical reports and correspondence.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., AutoCAD, Primavera, Microsoft Office).
- Experience in post-tensioning, pile construction, and superstructure erection schemes is essential.
