Citi is looking to hire an experienced salesperson to run the convertible bonds sales desk. Your role as desk head will be to develop our convertible bonds franchise with a cross section of institutional clients including banks, asset managers, hedge funds and pension funds. You will spend your time visiting clients and developing an understanding of their needs, with the overall objective of this role to generate commission, source liquidity and be a conduit for the customer base into the Convertible Bonds market.
By joining the trading desk for Equities, you will work closely with the primary issuance team on the general convertibles pipeline and will aim to help the desk to issue at least one synthetic convertible bond per year.
As lead on the desk, you will be expected to grow the team and develop the junior talent on the desk as well as leading on projects to enhance the existing sales strategies by incorporating additional instruments and dynamic procedures.
What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are:
Responsible for successfully managing the convertible bonds sales at Citi, including growing the desk in terms of profitability and size.
Development of high-profile institutional client accounts from acquisition to ownership
Liaise with trading to develop the franchise, anticipating client demand in each respective product/market.
Improve the Citi rankings with the client base, in particular with the largest French Asset Managers.
Work alongside the derivatives desk for options trades as well as the international convertible bonds sales desks to develop the cross regional business.
Refine and implement Citi’s sales/marketing strategy to improve the client footprint and maximize associated revenues, establishing a clear marketing plan with defined priorities, market penetration and revenue goals.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
What we will need from you:
Proven interpersonal and problem-solving skills and an ability to demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication.
A history of building and maintaining client relationships with the institutional client base across EMEA, specifically France, Switzerland, and the UK
Strong knowledge and a technical understanding of the Convertibles Bonds market, as well as a strong understanding of both the credit and equity products.
An understanding of how to assess the risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
