We are seeking high performing Managers to join our team. As a Sustainable Finance Technology Manager, you will primarily work with financial services clients across sectors including Banking & Capital Markets, Wealth & Asset Management and Insurance, to help them leverage data & technology assets in their sustainability initiatives. You will bring your deep understanding of ESG tools, applications and data vendors to help EY craft new sustainability solutions. You will also budget and manage project resources, reporting to senior client directors during these initiatives.
There are a wide range of exciting sustainability-driven projects that you may be involved in, such as:
- Sustainable finance transformation and regulatory compliance programmes
- Sustainable finance data strategy, architecture and data model designs
- Reporting and disclosures including TCFD, SFDR, SASB, GRI, EU Taxonomy & CSRD
- ESG vendor selection assessments and vendor benchmarking
- Management of ESG technology strategy, design and implementation
Your Key Responsibilities
- You will deliver ESG technology engagements on a standalone basis or as part of a larger transformation agenda
- You will contribute to the development of technology services, approaches and solutions that enable our clients to meet sustainability objectives
- You will develop tactical and strategic solutions to sustainability tech and data issues through means such as data analysis, creating frameworks and/or working with developers to build new tools and models
- You will support sales activities including drafting of project proposal documents, meeting potential clients, inputting into branding & marketing, managing pipeline and drafting contracts as required
- You will lead teams on ESG technology engagements, providing direction whilst keeping a clear focus on anticipating and identifying risks, escalating issues as appropriate
- You will partner with other sustainability-focused teams within Consulting and other EY service lines (e.g. Tax, Assurance, Strategy) to provide technology and data input that is aligned to their broader ESG strategy, initiatives and targets
- You will build relationships with ESG technology vendors to equip the team with the necessary resources and expertise to help our clients through ESG complexities
- You will provide innovative insights for clients and contribute to thought leadership.
- You will actively drive operational efficiency on projects through budgeting, billing, and resourcing
- You will invest yourself in your junior team members’ development and success
As a Manager within the team, you will be expected tomanage workstreams and people as part of a range of projects, and will regularly engage with client representatives, so it is essential that you bring the competencies that will allow you to do so:
ESG Data and Tech
- Ability to apply ESG data & technology to address new and evolving use cases within Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance, Wealth & Asset Management or Private Equity
- Experience in at least one of the ESG pillars and of at least some ESG regulations and their impact on financial services firms
- Understanding of financed emissions and the role of financial services in meeting global environmental targets
- Experience in ESG data & technology change programmes implemented and integrated within existing architectures and environments
- Knowledge of ESG data vendors, data models, common usage and associated pitfalls, as well as ESG market data trends
Broader Technology Delivery
- Experience in solution architecture, data management & strategy and/or large-scale transformation programme delivery
- Good understanding of agile and traditional SDLC delivery methods including experience using tools such as JIRA or DevOps.
- Understanding of modern technology such as process automation (ServiceNow, Pega) or cloud (Azure, AWS) how it’s delivered and used within the context of financial firms
Consulting and Leadership
- Excellent ability to visualise, present, describe and use complex information, highlighting challenges and proposing solutions
- Leadership skills, ability to lead engagement project teams, manage delivery risk, identify client issues, as well as to structure and delegate work effectively
- Intellectual curiosity, excellent problem-solving skills and active listening
- Strong facilitation, presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Stakeholder management skills. ability to engage, manage and build relationships
- Counselling and mentoring skills to support junior members in the team and foster their personal development
To qualify for the role you must have
- Experience working in a range of projects related to ESG and/or sustainable finance, ideally within banking, insurance, pensions, wealth and asset management and/or private equity specifically
- Track record of success running small projects or parts of large projects in the financial services and/or within a consulting environment
- Professional experience around data management and/or technology delivery
- Demonstrable experience of the skills needed to succeed in a consulting role, with the ability to understand clients’ needs and develop innovative solutions
- Strong academic record including a degree and ideally relevant professional qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience
- Experience in financial services growth initiatives, risk management or regulatory change delivery preferred
