As a Senior Principal Architect at JPMorgan Chase within the Compute Platforms group you provide specialized expertise to influence the target state architecture and strategy. You will work across teams to implement and advance the adoption of complex strategic global solutions that give us a competitive advantage.
Our Compute Platforms group is responsible for designing, engineering, and operating the infrastructure-as-a-service that meets our entire compute needs. We manage the largest global private cloud offering in the financial industry. As part of our Architecture team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that these platforms are designed to be efficient, capable, modern, and secure. You will have the opportunity to work across multiple technical disciplines, and your stakeholders and consumers will include every Line of Business within the firm.
Job responsibilities
- Advises and leads on strategy and development of multiple products, applications, and technologies across a portfolio
- Translates highly complex technical issues, trends, and approaches to leadership to drive the firm’s innovation and enable leaders to make strategic, well-informed decisions about target state architecture
- Drives adoption and implementation of technical methods in specialized fields in line with the latest product development methodologies
- Anticipate and plan for future compute demands, including emerging technologies such as AI/ML, quantum computing, and other advanced computing paradigms.
- Maintain a deep and broad understanding of modern technologies and industry trends to ensure the platform remains cutting-edge and competitive.
- Think like a business owner and prioritize customer satisfaction by designing and delivering solutions that delight users and meet their evolving needs.
- Work closely with various stakeholders, including business units and technical teams, to ensure alignment and successful implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly evaluating and enhancing platform capabilities, processes, and methodologies.
- Establishes and leads an architecture governance body
- Creates durable, reusable software frameworks that improves velocity and quality of output across teams and functions

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on modern architecture concepts and proficient expert experience. Demonstrated prior experience influencing across functions and teams to deliver modern architecture
- Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex architecture problems across various technical disciplines
- Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to recommend the best technology solutions and approaches to achieve the future state architecture
- Deep understanding of cloud architecture principles and best practices, including experience with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience designing and managing hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- Expertise in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes) and virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware vSphere, ESXi, and NSX, OpenShift, etc)
- In-depth understanding of networking concepts, including software-defined networking (SDN), virtual private clouds (VPCs), and network security groups.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
- Experience in performance tuning and optimization of compute and storage resources in cloud and virtualized environments.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and configuration management.
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools, such as Agile, Scrum, and JIRA.
