Job Description for Unix Administrator Are you passionate about Unix and Linux systems? Looking for an opportunity to show off your technical expertise? Come join Expoint's team as our new Unix Administrator! In this position, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Unix and Linux systems. You will also be responsible for the security of our core computing infrastructure, including ensuring operating system and other software patches and bugfixes are implemented. To excel in this job, you will need an in-depth knowledge of shell scripting, system administration, and configuring servers. You will also need strong problem-solving skills. Key responsibilities of this role: • Install and configure Unix and Linux systems • Develop and implement security protocols to protect against potential threats • Monitor system performance and improve it as needed • Execute and debug shell scripts • Document system designs, implementation procedures, and other technical documentation • Keep abreast of trends and developments in the IT field • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure compatibility with our core systems • Performing capacity planning, disaster recovery, and other routine system maintenance • Develop and update policies and procedures regarding changes to the system The successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field of study and at least five years of experience working in Unix/Linux systems. They must also possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
