Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:

Responsible for maximising the sales, profitability & brand equity of the Emerging Markets organisation by building and leading the eCommerce merchandising strategy for the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shape and lead the EM Merchandising strategy for the eCommerce channels
  • Deliver financial targets including Net sales, Sell Through, standard margin
  • Own, lead and implement the end-to-end planning, buying guidance, range guidance, and GTM strategy for all categories with EM BU/CTC team direction
  • Accountable for end-to-end category responsibility (including Open-To-Buy (OTB) plan pre-season product planning, option planning, range planning, forecasting, including handover to Demand Planning
  • Maximize new & in season business opportunities by understanding and executing on respective channel potentials
  • Constantly monitor industry developments in their category and cascade intelligence to the organisation across all EM clusters
  • Interface with key stakeholders including Planning, Marketing, CX,and Digital Operations teams
  • Share best practices among clusters, driving optimum OTB plans to balance growth opportunities with range efficiency
  • Drive innovation across the function in terms of process automation and optimisation to improve availability across eCommerce and Partner Program channels
  • Provide fact-based category input and feedback for internal/external stakeholders
  • Execute the continuous improvement of all merchandising systems and tools to suit world class merchandising practise
  • Role model the leadership framework and ONE EM mindset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Leadership and influencing skills
  • Detailed knowledge of Merchandising, ranging, forecasting & budget planning
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and under pressure
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of range segmentation and merchandising plan for eCommerce channels
  • Strong trading mindset, with an entrepreneurial flair to maximize business opportunities
  • Technical skillset: advanced Excel, PowerBI, Data visualization tools. Experience with coding languages an advantage
  • Fluent in English

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • University degree, ideally in business with marketing and sales focus - MBA an advantage
  • Total of 8 - 10 years experience with minimum 5+ years’ leadership / directorial / head of dept experience of core buying & merchandising function, preferably in a digital or retail organization, with broad-based experience working with fashion franchises, vertical and multichannel retailers. Experience working with a Sporting Goods retailer is preferred
  • Multi-store and eCom experience essential
  • Functional knowledge of Marketing Activation, Human Resources, Finance, Supply Chain and Logistics

What you'll do:

  • Develop a 360° strategic management of Other Sports, managing it from a brand, communication and media perspective.
  • Shape the strategic path for adidas Other Sports in Italy, finding the best plans and initiatives to become the market leader within all the segments.
  • Identify and implement the proper media mix to achieve and maximize the strategic objectives (upper + mid funnel focus).
  • Define the proper Brand, PR and Communication approach for each project, capable to achieve the brand and specific projects’ KPIs.
  • Define, develop and steer Other Sports activation plans landing advanced comprehensive plans in alignment with Global BU across all communication channels (comms, media, PR, Newsroom, Digital, e com, events, etc) in collaboration with horizontal and vertical BU teams and Sports Marketing.
  • Manage Global and local agencies across projects, campaigns and activations, from agency brief process, development and execution.
  • Oversee development of communication tools from conception to implementation ensuring all projects are on brief on time and meet highest creative standards.
  • Ensure all consumer touch points (comms, channel mkg, sport marketing) are in alignment and connected, ensuring a seamless consumer journey (digital and physical).
  • Always look for the best relevant localization opportunities to empower brand visibility in all the touchpoints (digital and physical), in owned and earned properties.
  • Implement media integrated communication plans and consumer activations and specific project, in line with strategic objectives and brand positioning and standards.
  • Select the right communication events agencies/ media / partners for effective and compelling brand initiatives which sustain the category plans, guarantee brand consistency and high executional excellence.
  • Define KPI setting for all plans and initiatives, be responsible for qualitative, quantitative analysis and reports to monitor effectiveness of the implemented projects and ensure brand excellence, all plans and initiatives must be on-budget/on-time.
  • Monitor activities to evaluate return of the investments.

Skills you'll need:

  • Experience in brand marketing and/or sales (football industry preferred)
  • High level of strategic thinking
  • Broad experience in marketing communication, campaign development and execution
  • Advanced project management experience
  • Advanced user of MS Office suite of products
  • Consumer and customer-minded brand builder and implementation driven personality

  • Proven experience in DC design, including all aspects of Facility, layout, Automation and process design
  • Ability to take business forecasts and translate into a facility design using CAD tools such as AutoCAD
  • Adept at MHE specification including power equipment, conveyor systems, rack systems, sortation systems and various picking methodologies
  • Relevant experience in complex business analytics in a distribution environment
  • Formal training and application of Six Sigma, Lean and other process improvement methodologies preferred
  • Solid background in work measurement programs such as Labor Management and Engineering Labor Standards desired
  • Ability to present to middle and senior management to drive decision making

  • Optimize marketing systems, master data, and sample management to enhance operational excellence and cross-functional collaboration across SEA.

GTM Process & Strategic Alignment

  • Own and lead the SEA GTM calendar and milestones, ensuring alignment across brand, channels, and country teams while working closely with EM MOPS.
  • Drive on-time, in-full GTM milestone deliverables, ensuring all key stakeholders receive necessary updates and handovers.
  • Support seasonal range handovers by collaborating with Category Management teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Support the buy review process, by consolidating range data to support the report for performance analytics and performance insights.

Marketing Systems & Process Excellence

  • Manager marketing operations systems and tools, including RMA, M-3, RMT, Hub-Light, and T1 Studio.
  • Drive system enhancements and process optimizations, working closely with IT and EM teams to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Provide process and system training to elevate professional skills and system proficiency within the SEA marketing team.

Sample Management & Budget Oversight

  • Oversee SEA sample budget planning and tracking, ensuring an optimal allocation per category.
  • Define sample ordering guidelines to maximize efficiency and minimize budget overruns.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead a team of three direct report, providing clear roles, responsibilities, and development plans to ensure full coverage across MOPS functions.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for marketing systems, master data, and sample management, ensuring business continuity.
  • Foster strong relationships with SEA Brand, Finance, Demand Planning, IT, and Business Development teams, as well as EM MOPS and country brand teams.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • GTM Milestone Governance: Ensure alignment, tracking, and continuous improvement of GTM processes in collaboration with EM.
  • Process & System Optimization: Drive efficiency improvements in ranging process, systems, and master data.
