Manufacturing Engineer

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Drive OEE, product yield quality and productivity project improvements. Identifying, initiating and implementing process improvement projects using Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Leads and coordinate new product development NPI programs through all phases.
  • Collaborating with cross functional teams for manufacturing start-ups, new technologies, and cost reduction projects.
  • Improving Environmental, Health, and Safety of the manufacturing process including Change management.
  • Effectively troubleshoot defects and variation, perform root cause analysis and apply problem solving skills. Supporting production operations to meet daily, weekly, monthly targets.
  • Ability to provide engineering support to occasionally nights, weekends as necessary to cover the manufacturing operations.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Four (4) years working in a manufacturing and/or process engineering role in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience with Filtrete converting, automation technology and processes
  • Experience with new product introductions & qualifications (NPI).
  • Experience with equipment startups, capital projects, and OEE productivity improvements.
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills. Ability to effetely use statistics tools to solve problems.
  • Experience with Project management tools, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with time constraints.
  • Works well on cross-functional team in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Health & Safety Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Conduct personal and area air and noise sampling, interpret results, complete reports and provide follow up for corrective actions.

  • Complete PPE assessments, ventilation assessments, exposure assessments and ergonomic reviews.

  • Complete respiratory reviews of areas and ensure proper PPE is being utilized.

  • Complete TSCA assessments and reviews.

  • Involvement in various site wide EHS initiatives and projects designed to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the site’s EHS programs.

  • Applying scientific, engineering principles and behavioral based systems to drive EHS risk reduction efforts and compliance with OSHA regulations and 3M policies.

  • Actively supporting EHS Cultural Excellence through personal responsibility for safety, health, and environment, promoting a culture to address incidents, near-misses and potential hazards.

  • Investigating workplace incidents and completing root cause analyses to determine appropriate corrective actions and conducting assessments of high hazard processes in order to reduce risk.

  • Analyze data, self-assessments, reports, and trends to identify opportunities to improve EHS and Regulatory performance and assist in developing strategies for future improvements.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Two (2) years EHS experience in a manufacturing/production environment (private, public, government or military) including internship experience.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's degree with emphasis in Safety or related EHS field from an accredited institution

  • Professional certification(s) such as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or willingness to obtain

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience or ability to develop understanding of, 3M standards and requirements

  • Self-directed, detail oriented, good interpersonal, communication, prioritization and organizational skills

  • Review and analyze incoming work orders to identify materials, estimate craftsperson time, determine priorities, and other requirements for scheduling and completing the work.
  • Inspect work site to identify special problems, safety issues, tool needs, or need for special instructions to provide for effective planning and scheduling of the job.
  • Develop daily and weekly maintenance work schedules based on materials availability, priority of request(s), production considerations, and craftsperson time availability.
  • Requisition materials not stocked or previously ordered to assure availability when needed for scheduled work orders.
  • Ensure accuracy of shop work orders in the Maintenance Management System for accurate accounting and record keeping.

  • Troubleshoot control valves, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and pumps, and replace AC and DC drive, PLCs, and HMIs
  • Maintaining a safe work environment and perform duties safely.

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
  • Possess a two-year technical diploma/degree or higher in a Mechanical,Electrical/Electronicsor Maintenance discipline from an accredited institution OR possess a minimum of three (3) years’ maintenance experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.

Desired:

  • Five (5) years’ experience of manufacturing, equipment installation and troubleshooting maintenance support.
  • Documented education, training, and industrial work experience.
  • Direct experience with manufacturing equipment.
  • Proven skill level in working with original equipment manuals, prints, drawings, and charts.
  • Knowledge and skills of mechanical concepts needed to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment and electrical devices.

This position will require:

  • Working overtime
  • Weekend work.
  • Holiday work
  • Working on-call

The starting rate of pay for this position is$29.90/hr., with the potential to reach
$34.72/hr.
This targeted compensation range represents a good faith estimate and can vary based on factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
