The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As an
Health & Safety Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Conduct personal and area air and noise sampling, interpret results, complete reports and provide follow up for corrective actions.

  • Complete PPE assessments, ventilation assessments, exposure assessments and ergonomic reviews.

  • Complete respiratory reviews of areas and ensure proper PPE is being utilized.

  • Complete TSCA assessments and reviews.

  • Involvement in various site wide EHS initiatives and projects designed to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the site’s EHS programs.

  • Applying scientific, engineering principles and behavioral based systems to drive EHS risk reduction efforts and compliance with OSHA regulations and 3M policies.

  • Actively supporting EHS Cultural Excellence through personal responsibility for safety, health, and environment, promoting a culture to address incidents, near-misses and potential hazards.

  • Investigating workplace incidents and completing root cause analyses to determine appropriate corrective actions and conducting assessments of high hazard processes in order to reduce risk.

  • Analyze data, self-assessments, reports, and trends to identify opportunities to improve EHS and Regulatory performance and assist in developing strategies for future improvements.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Two (2) years EHS experience in a manufacturing/production environment (private, public, government or military) including internship experience.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's degree with emphasis in Safety or related EHS field from an accredited institution

  • Professional certification(s) such as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or willingness to obtain

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience or ability to develop understanding of, 3M standards and requirements

  • Self-directed, detail oriented, good interpersonal, communication, prioritization and organizational skills
