Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage regional and global data center operations, along with backup infrastructure and systems across hybrid cloud environments.
- Oversee shipments, inventory tracking, hardware installation, maintenance upgrades, routine break/fix tasks, and ensure compliance with data protection requirements.
- Audit and maintain consistent rack layouts, manage RMA hardware, collaborate with systems engineers for provisioning, and perform backup restore operations as needed.
- Supervise installations and ensure effective layout of tools and cabling according to industry practices, participate in disaster recovery exercises, and devise data protection strategies.
- Oversee capacity planning, conduct power audits, ensure proper power supply to equipment, manage equipment malfunctions, and perform preventative and corrective maintenance to avoid outages.
- Maintain service level standards by ensuring timely responses to stakeholder requests.
- Utilize knowledge and expertise to contribute to process improvement using Change and Incident Management Tools.
- Facilitate team knowledge assimilation, maintain process and procedure documentation, and respond to audits.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills for effective global team interaction.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, handle day-to-day activities with minimal instruction, and solve problems of diverse scope requiring thorough data evaluation.
- Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions, using skills and experience to identify and resolve a wide range of issues practically and creatively.
- Assess and communicate risks based on complexity, resource availability, and timeline constraints.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams and influence outcomes, with experience in various technologies, platforms, and practices such as virtualization, containerization, data protection, cyber recovery, Windows, Linux, and/or Solaris platforms, Infrastructure as Code, and automation engineering.
Experience/ Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of Dell EMC Avamar, Networker, Power Protect Data Manager and Data Domain and/or Dell EMC Integrated Data Protection Appliance.
- Data Domain, Dell EMC Avamar and/or Networker Certification is an added advantage
- AWS Public Cloud Backups – Vault Creation, Policy & Tags
- KNOWLEDGE: Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position.
- JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel.
- SUPERVISION: Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
- EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a minimum of 6-8 years of Data Protection experience.
