What to Expect

You will be responsible for the B2B business development and sales activities of Tesla residential and small commercial energy products, with a focus on Powerwall products.

You will develop, maintain and grow a productive customer network, such as distributors, 3rd party installers and EPCs who can offer turnkey solutions as well as perform broader activities such as after sales support and services

You will also be responsible for fostering strategic relationships with key decision makers at local and national level, including governmental bodies, international organizations agencies and NGOs, with the scope to identify and win tenders and project-based opportunities.

What You’ll Do
  • Successfully manage a network of partners to deliver sales volumes
  • Achieve Powerwall sales and delivery targets by originating and winning a targeted number of commercial sales opportunities per quarter
  • Lead the contract negotiation and manage the sales cycle from opportunity to delivery and payment
  • Be responsible for the continued development of the commercial opportunity pipeline in the region, by evaluating new business opportunities with current and new accounts and/or sales channels
  • Rapidly evaluate market dynamics across sectors (mainly residential & small commercial) and drivers (policy/regulatory, economics, etc.)
  • Gather product and feature requirements from (potential) customers and build business case(s) to gather internal support for development
  • Represent Tesla at sales and marketing events promoting Powerwall
  • Provide regular forecasting and reporting to management
  • Help identify and support implementation of initiatives to maintain or improve partner training, partner installation quality, and to improve Tesla operations and fulfilment and Tesla support
What You’ll Bring
  • 5+ years of work experience in account management, channel sales and/or business development roles. Experience in the PV, wind or energy storage industry is a plus
  • Experience working in the region plus you possess over a strong local network. A network in the renewable energy sector is preferred
  • Working knowledge and understanding of electricity sector, renewables and storage
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and work autonomously and manage and execute many projects and tasks in parallel
  • Work location: Cape Town or Johannesburg
  • Fluency in English, knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is a plus
  • Flexibility to travel across the region, comfortable with ~40% of business travel
