Your impact

We’ll rely on you to take personal ownership and responsibility for protecting people from harm and for driving strategies and performance while supporting continuous improvement. You’ll own and maintain open communication with the LOB HSE Director, peer LOB HSE team members, and members of our Construction Management teams to provide technical resources guidance, to ensure alignment and to assure consistent implementation of HSE process tools that support LOB HSE strategic plans and objectives.

By establishing these working relationships, you’ll provide visible support and leadership to all client and LOB stakeholders (to include offices and projects/programs) by providing interpretation, training, technical review and support, regulatory guidance and governance oversight to ensure alignment and consistent implementation of the Jacobs HSE program.

Once assigned at a project level you’ll be charged to lead/support incident notification, investigation and reporting process, as well as facilitating injury management and return to work process. You’ll develop Jacobs project specific HSE plans, review subcontractor hazard assessments and deliverables, and participate as required in operational readiness reviews or other forums relevant to project success.

Travel anticipated with this role will relate to fulfilling the described activities above, for activities based in the mid-Atlantic region of the US. Based on the candidate’s circumstance and preference, the “home” office location may be based in either Cary, NC or Conshohocken, PA. Future project assignments may require additional travel within the US, and potentially North America.

Project HSE Managers for Jacobs LSNA LOB require the ability to cater successfully to multiple task masters – support of HSE staff in the field, leadership and vision for Project and Construction Managers and other field staff, a supportive but directive environment to ensure subcontractor success, a leadership style that role models and demonstrates a culture of inclusion and caring for our craft workforce stakeholders, and finally the development of a rapport, partnership, and a communication style which engenders confidence and trust with our client. This requires flexibility, excellent communication skills across a wide cross section of stakeholders, empathy, commitment, and dedication to the delivery of a project approach which ensures workers go home safely every day. While administrative duties associated with a role such as this are many, to role model what’s expected and the delivery of Jacobs BeyondZero culture, the real heavy lifting of this work is in the field where the work takes place and developing relationships with the team members delivering it.

If you’re up for the challenge, we’ve been looking for someone just like you.

Here's what you'll need

• Professional HSE certification and Bachelor’s Degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or related field

• A minimum of 15 years of demonstrated professional experience in a similar leadership role in managing Construction Health and Safety, including up to 15 HSE staff direct reports

• Demonstrated experience as change agent, influencing construction/HSE industry outcomes for the better
