Ideally based in the greater Toronto area, this role is hybrid with a blend of work from a Jacobs office, from home, and at project sites as applicable. This role requires someone with strong interpersonal skills with a desire to build relationships and advance to greater responsibilities, strong organizational and data management skills, and someone who is motivated and able to manage time and multiple tasks effectively. Primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Supports the Canadian HSE Manager and Director with implementation of the BeyondZero program within the BIA group including projects and offices in Canada.
  • Establishes working relationships and provides visible support to all stakeholders by providing administrative support, technical and regulatory guidance, and governance oversight to ensure alignment and consistent implementation of the Jacobs HSE program.
  • Supports Certificate of Recognition (COR) certification process.
  • Supports the administration of Workers Compensation accounts across Canada.
  • Supports monitoring and performance reporting of the HSSE strategic plan.
  • Supports specific HSE initiatives to drive BeyondZero performance.
  • Where appropriate, supports HSE training or procedure development and/or review for implementation specific to Canadian needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports implementation and monitoring of the HSE training program to ensure HSE training requirements are met.
  • Supports the incident notification, investigation, and reporting process.
  • Contributes to Canadian HSE communications and dissemination of information.
  • Supports the review and development of Canada wide, project and office HSE plans and hazard assessments.
  • Supports office safety programs including office HSE plans, emergency response plans, and Joint Health and Safety/Beyond Zero committees, as deemed necessary.
  • Establishes and maintains positive client, partner, and subcontractor relationships to support business operations.
  • Supports HSE prequalification reviews of subcontractors/subconsultants.
  • Supports and/or conducts HSE office and project audits in accordance with governance plan.
  • Minimal travel, as approved, is required to be successful in this role.
Here's what you'll need
  • Relevant Health & Safety and/or equivalent diploma/degree strongly preferred.
  • OHS professional designation (i.e. CRSP, CRST, IH, CSP, CIH, etc) strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, etc).
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of Canadian OHS legislation.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience working in the field of HSE. Experience as a consultant is desirable.
  • Data management and organization strongly preferred.
  • Knowledgeable with Intelex management system platform is desirable.
  • Practical experience auditing is desirable.
  • Experience in Water/Wastewater, Civil Infrastructure, Buildings, Transportation (i.e. roads, bridges, transit, rail, etc) industries is desirable.
  • Willing and able to travel within Canada for select opportunities. A valid Driver’s license is required.
