Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintaining and strengthening the risk and compliance operation: Implementing, and contributing to oversight and improvement of the Insurance Risk and Compliance program. For some non-insurance related areas this will mean collaborating with Booking Holdings compliance and risk functions
- New product development: Understanding the viability of new insurance products from a regulatory and risk perspective in partnership with legal, to provide advice to 1st line product insurance managers and product teams.
- 2nd Line Risk Oversight: Reviewing and updating frameworks to oversee 1st line activities, such as new product development; customer service, claims, complaints, sales, product disclosures, etc.
- Regulatory compliance: Maintaining the portfolio of licenses and regulatory relationships that allows distribution of insurance across Booking.com.
- Regulatory trends: Market monitoring of regulatory trends to ensure continued compliance, coordinating responses to regulatory changes, and being the first point of contact for group compliance’s regulatory change management programme.
- Partnership and escalation with Legal: Work closely with legal counsel on external regulatory reviews and complex issues referral.
- Employee competence and integrity: Oversight of employee competency requirements, incident reporting, employee training and rollout.
- Complaints management: Assisting the Insurance Complaints Team with regulatory response and oversight of customer complaints to regulators / ombudsmen.
- General compliance: Working with the Booking Holdings organisation on Data Protection, FinCrime, and Corporate Compliance related topics.
- Risk Control: working with the wider group risk management team to appropriately integrate with enterprise risk, and coordinate risk assessments and mitigation actions within the insurance vertical.
- Compliance governance and reporting: coordinating the programme of insurance compliance and risk meetings, and preparing the relevant briefing materials and reports.
Role Qualifications and Requirements:
- 2nd line of defence risk or compliance experience, within a regulated environment (preferably insurance)
- Experience in managing interactions with regulators / ombudsman
- Experience of working in an insurer, MGA, or insurance intermediary/broker (desired)
- Knowledge of insurance regulation across multiple jurisdictions (desired) including UK, EU, US and APAC markets
- Experience in the design and launch of new insurance products, with global rollouts (desired)
- Ability to work in a technology company, with an understanding of product management and build (desired)
