Communications and Engagement Leader, Asia-Pacific Financial Services


Your key responsibilities

To lead the region’s internal and external communication team including leadership communications for Asia-Pacific Financial Services, Regional Managing Partner’s internal and external strategic communications program and regional PR and social media program.


Skills and attributes for success

  • Leadership Communications ~50% of role:
    • Lead, develop and deliver a comprehensive communication strategy for the Asia-Pacific leadership team – including quarterly reports to partners, leadership films, speeches, presentations and broadcast communications from the Asia-Pacific Regional Managing Partner.
    • Build trusted advisor relationships with the Asia-Pacific Executive Team and provide strategic communications as necessary.
    • Manage a team of three communication leaders – internal and external.
    • Drive innovation through APAC FSO C&E as part of broader transformation of BMC
    • Represent Asia-Pacific FSO on the Global Communications and Engagement steering committee as well as on major communications issues and projects.
    • Manage complex global communication programs with the ability to work both strategically, and at delivery level.
    • Provide effective leadership and oversight of media relations including ensuring strong and timely link between internal and external messaging.
    • Oversee Regional Managing Partner’s internal and external strategic communications program including oversight of media relations and social media program
    • Provide leadership to the FSO PR team including regional and market segment resources
    • Enable knowledge sharing and connect all facets of the business when initiating, developing and implementing internal and external communications projects.
    • Develop results-driven communications that help the business address its big issues.
  • Editorial Leadership ~25% of role:
    • Oversee, in conjunction with the Asia-Pacific Daily News Alert Editor, internal news content for Asia-Pacific Financial Services across the EY Home Page and all online channels.
    • Ensure coordination of the Asia-Pacific Editorial Network to produce a highly effective outcome for Financial Services.
    • Ensure seamless sharing of information and messaging between internal communications and media colleagues.
  • Area liaison ~10% of role:
    • Take part in the Sub-Area Heads of Communication network, including meeting agendas, managing and facilitating calls and meetings.
    • Ensure effective information-sharing top-down and bottom-up between Financial Services, Area and Global.
  • Communication team management ~15% of role:
    • Leadership role within the Brand, Marketing and Communications network to ensure timely and full compliance with all organizational processes related to Asia-Pacific Communications and media relations.
    • Ensure there is a clear understanding of and adherence to EY communication and media protocols.
    • Coach the Communications team e.g. influencing skills in a dynamic, complex and international environment.
    • Lead and support communication activities for multiple projects across Asia-Pacific including go-to-market projects for all client-serving people across EY’s four service line


To qualify for the role you must have

  • Graduated with professional or higher qualification in Internal Communication, Corporate Communication and PR
  • 15 years+ broad communications experience including extensive experience in an English-language communications role.
  • Proven track record in internal communication, with ability to work both strategically, and at delivery level in large matrixed global organisations
  • Proven ability to build relationships with senior executives and their teams.
  • Experience leading a team and demonstrating good teamwork skills.
  • Experience working across cultures and geographies.
  • Working knowledge of Ernst & Young or professional services sector.
  • Fluent written and spoken English. Knowledge of Mandarin an advantage.
