As a member of the North America Tax team, the Canada Tax Manager will report to the Senior Tax Manager, Johnson Electric North America, and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax compliance, reporting, tax risk management and strategic tax planning for the Canadian operation. This role plays a critical function in ensuring accurate tax provisions, audit management, and regulatory compliance in accordance with Canadian tax laws, IFRS, and BEPS 2.0 requirements.

Overall responsibility for Canadian tax research, compliance, accounting (IFRS), customs, indirect taxes, non-resident withholding taxes and strategic planning for the group
Responsible for all mid-year/year-end tax provisions and tax reporting packages
Responsible for all corporate income tax compliance requirements, as well as the provision-to-return true-ups for three Canadian operating and one special purpose internal financing entities
Manage all income tax, EIFEL rules calculations, payroll, and sales tax audits (federal, provincial and transfer pricing), indirect tax, property tax and SRED recovery engagements with external consultants, and mid-year/year-end tax reporting with the external auditor
Collaborate with Johnson Electric Canada finance teams and prepare the quarterly cash tax forecasts and thin cap calculations
Responsible for BEPS 2.0 calculations and filings
Support on cross-border transactions among affiliated companies of Johnson Electric working with our Transfer Pricing team as necessary
Support Johnson Electric global tax teams for any global tax optimization initiatives
Serve as tax expert to Canadian operations, develop an understanding of complex taxation issues impacting the group. Advise and prepare internal memos for discussion and sign-off
Monitor relevant Canadian tax legislation changes and ensure timely compliance and optimal impact for the business
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or CPA, CA designation required
8-10 years of experience in in Canadian corporate taxation
Strong knowledge of Canada Income Tax Act, IFRS, BEPS 2.0, transfer pricing, and indirect taxes
Exposure to working in an international environment, with multi-currencies, complex tax structures and different time-zones preferred
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
Proficiency in ERP systems, tax software, and financial reporting tools
Oracle FCCS consolidation experience preferred
Detailed – oriented individual that understands importance of accuracy and completeness
