Job Description
As an intern, you will be responsible for a project aimed on the development of a porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) vaccine candidate. The student will work on modifications of the PRRSV to improve immunogenicity using molecular biological techniques. The student will screen the created viruses on different cell lines to assess virus replication and cellular innate immune activation. The techniques that will be involved in this project are cell culture, DNA transfections, virus infections, innate immune assays, immunofluorescence and virus titrations to quantify the virus yields of the different PRRSV variants.

The described tasks form the basic package and will often be performed independently after a proper training and learning period. These tasks may be supplemented with other projects and/or tasks on your own initiative or at the request of the organization.
What is required
• A final year B.Sc or M.Sc student in the field of Life Sciences
• Preferably, you are familiar with vaccines and viruses
• You are fluent in English and/or Dutch, both written and verbal
• You are available for a period of 6-9 months for 5 days a week
