Drive issue resolution from root cause analysis to countermeasure implementation on all electro-mechanical issues pertaining to the Drive Unit Inverter
Identify root cause by performing detailed hands-on failure analysis using a wide range of analytical tools and techniques including electrical debugging, X-Ray, microscopic inspection, cross sectioning, thermography, and functional testing
Design and conduct experiments on drive units to replicate failures observed in the field
Analyze and interpret field and diagnostic logs/data to identify commonality on trending issues
Monitor product field performance, identify trending issues and prioritize work based on severity, occurrence, and cost of each failure modes
Provide upfront feedback by participating in design reviews to ensure product performance, reliability, and manufacturability issues are identified and risks mitigated (DFMEAs)
Collaborate with appropriate engineers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to drive resolution to the identified failure causes
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience
Prior applicable experience desired; preferably in a hands-on role such as Failure Analysis / Quality / Service in consumer electronics or automotive
Exceptional problem solving and Failure Analysis, strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
Ability to use tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data
Programming Languages & Tools: Python, Minitab, JMP or similar are a strong plus
For entry level candidates, Co-ops, or participation in student competitions such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE; Solar vehicle
The successful candidate for this position must have a broad technical background with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, service, and suppliers across a wide variety of issues
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla and outside
