What You’ll Do
  • Monitor field performance of products and identify opportunities for improvements
  • Contribute to ongoing efforts for continuous improvement at Tesla, actively driving activities towards enhancing vehicle reliability, contributing to the continual optimization of Tesla's products and processes
  • Execute field investigation:
  • Data analysis to identify trends and support prioritization of investigations
  • Perform vehicle and component level debug and failure analysis
  • Identify root-cause of problems using 1st principles and 5why methodology
  • Coordinate and dispatch field failure investigations
  • Drive containment and corrective action implementation
  • Communicate field performance of the engineering system, gather buy-in from engineering peers and leadership on improvement priorities and urgency
What You’ll Bring
  • 0-5+ years of hands-on experience in failure analysis, reliability, systems architecture, or related electro-mechanical systems, with a demonstrated problem-solving ability (For out of school candidates, Co-ops, or participation in student competitions such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE; Solar vehicle. Strong project that demonstrates problem solving skills, also accepted)
  • A background in electronics or automotive (with an electrical engineering focus) is preferred, or an equivalent qualification
  • Hands-on experience in debugging and testing electrical systems in the automotive or a comparable industry, including wire harnesses, components, ECUs, and/or embedded systems
  • Broad technical background, with previous experience in problem solving and failure analysis on multiple (Proficient in PCBA level troubleshooting and debugging)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Programming Languages & Tools: Python, UNIX
  • Demonstrated success in applying statistical methods in data analysis
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, or similar fields or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
