As a Consultant within our Warsaw-based Consulting team of 100 professionals, you will actively contribute to a suite of consulting services designed to bolster project management, planning, resource coordination, budgeting, construction, commissioning, and start-up operations. This dynamic role supports our clients' Project Management Office (PMO), propelling them towards achieving critical project milestones. The successful candidate will assist with project and risk management for our clients' capital projects, often valued up to $1,000MM.

This role will serve primarily domestic clients in the energy sector, as well as a select number of international accounts, providing top-tier consulting services within the CESA region. The Consultant will work under the guidance of the Manager/Senior Manager, actively participating in multiple projects concurrently.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist with feasibility studies for major greenfield and brownfield refinery or petrochemical investments across the value chain.
  • Support the execution of sustainability and energy transition projects within the downstream sector, including biofuels and hydrogen.
  • Provide consulting services throughout all engagement phases, including benchmarking, gap analysis, solution identification, justification, prioritization, ranking, implementation, and close out.
  • Coordinate with engineering and construction contractors on behalf of our clients at various project stages.
  • Support the implementation of effective digital solutions for the industry, spanning from process design to commissioning and start-up phases.
  • Help develop tailored execution and contracting strategies and enact portfolio governance that reduces bureaucracy, enhances ownership, and optimizes investment allocation.
  • Assist clients in managing complex construction work packages (CWPs), including bills of materials, isometrics, scope, layout, instrumentation lists, and manpower considerations.

Education, experience, and requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Financial Management, or a closely related discipline is required. An advanced degree and PMP certification are preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the oil refining, chemicals, distribution, and marketing industry, preferably with some time spent in a planning function related to the oil downstream business.
  • Relevant experience should ideally be gained from program management consultancies like Mott MacDonald, Worley Parsons Group, or directly from projects developed by major players in the Oil and Gas industry's Engineering departments.
  • Solid understanding of the economic and business factors related to the oil downstream industry and an ability to apply this knowledge in the evaluation of business opportunities.
  • Familiarity with various modeling techniques and methodologies related to economic analysis and planning, complemented by risk management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce concise reports and presentations suitable for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in supporting both the business and field side of the capital project process, with working knowledge of applicable plant and engineering codes/standards.
  • Good understanding of the lifecycle project management and framework, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), detailed engineering, as well as EPC/EPCM and Project Management Consultancy (PMC) processes.
