Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee feasibility studies for significant greenfield and brownfield refinery or petrochemical investments across the value chain.
  • Execute and lead sustainability and energy transition projects within the downstream sector, including biofuels and hydrogen.
  • Provide comprehensive consulting services throughout all engagement phases, including benchmarking, gap analysis, solution identification, justification, prioritization, ranking, implementation, and close out.
  • Liaise with engineering and construction contractors on behalf of our clients at various project stages.
  • Implement effective digital solutions for the industry, spanning the process design to commissioning and start-up phases.
  • Develop tailored execution and contracting strategies, and implement portfolio governance that reduces bureaucracy, enhances ownership, and optimizes investment allocation.
  • Support clients in managing complex construction work packages (CWPs), including bills of materials, isometrics, scope, layout, instrumentation lists, and manpower considerations.

Education, experience, and requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Financial Management, or a closely related discipline is required. An advanced degree and PMP certification are highly desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in the oil refining, chemicals, distribution, and marketing industry, with at least five years in a planning function related to the oil downstream business.
  • Relevant international experience should ideally be gained from program management consultancies like Mott MacDonald, Worley Parsons Group or directly from projects developed by major players in the Oil and Gas industry's Engineering departments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the economic and business factors related to the oil downstream industry and a proven track record of successfully applying this knowledge in the evaluation of business opportunities.
  • Solid understanding of various modeling techniques and methodologies related to economic analysis and planning, complemented by risk management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce concise reports and presentations appropriate for all levels.
  • Experience in managing both the business and field side of the capital project process, with working knowledge of applicable plant and engineering codes/standards.
  • Good understanding of the lifecycle project management and framework, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), detailed engineering, as well as EPC/EPCM and Project Management Consultancy (PMC) processes.
