Required Qualifications:

Bachelor degree Diploma or equivalent in electrical engineering/building service engineering ANDindustry experience

Additional qualifications

Knowledge and ability to develop/calculate power requirements for either new or existing infrastructures

In-depth knowledge of electrical equipment to include but not limited to; High-power transformers, Medium/Low Voltage Substations, Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS), Generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, Static Transfer Switches, Battery Chargers, Protection Relais, Switchboards, Complex Infrastructures, Busways, Cabling systems.

Ability to interpret and review electrical one-line and control wiring diagrams

Understanding of industry standard data center best practices and how to implement them

Understanding of Building Monitoring and Electrical Power Management Systems

Knowledgeable of mechanical plant and cooling systems pertaining to Data Center configurations

Knowledge of different data center designs and redundancy levels.

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

While not required, we also look for the following

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND years of technical engineering experience.

Data Center Operations

Ensures compliance with data center business units and service-level policies. Abides by all Service Level and Organizational Level Agreements (SLA/OLAs) to meet compliance and service requirements. Ensures third parties are compliant with security and safety guidelines. May suggest changes for improvements based on experience.

Demonstrates conscientiousness on cost adheres to budget requirements; keeps costs reasonable and contributes to staying within budget; supports managers in creating budget forecasts; provides input as needed to meet timely and accurate estimates on budget allocation. Plans and bills in a timely and accurate manner; supports finance for accruals; takes steps to avoid After-the-Fact (ATF) costs; creates and monitors Purchase Orders (POs) as needed to ensure sufficient funds for operations. Manages POs end-to-end process.

Executes strategic vision as communicated by leaders.

Follows and adheres to safety and security policies and procedures. Reports immediately any safety or security issues or concerns. Participates in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process as appropriate.

Service Delivery

Follows procedures to communicate and resolve issues related to programs, projects, and incidents in order to ensure service compliance. Identifies and escalates issues as needed; supports resolution of issues as appropriate. Contributes to analysis of incident information.

Manages the assigned projects or programs to meet service delivery objectives. Participates in pilot programs or task forces to ensure smooth implementation for future service delivery. Escalates to appropriate stakeholders to remove obstacles.

Contributes to issue tracking. Maintains a strong customer focus. Communicates and follows up appropriately; demonstrates timeliness and accuracy in responsiveness; provides recommendations and suggestions to customers to meet their needs. Negotiates with customers for mutually acceptable solutions; takes limitations into account in crafting realistic approaches. Displays empathy with customers; understands and anticipates customer needs. Processes customer requirements, including technical requirements; identifies and resolves gaps as needed.

Participates in and monitors partnerships with stakeholders. Manages relationships with clients and suppliers to ensure that all expectations are clarified, understood, documented, and met. Effectively communicates with clients and partners (e.g., upcoming service impacts and outages, delivery dates, requirements, project status, new initiatives).

Ensure the plant is operated and maintained following the highest safety standards. Ensure LOTO procedures are followed and all works are covered under detailed permitting systems.

Develop and execute preventative and/or predictive maintenance plans for mission critical equipment in line with the manufacturer guidelines and MS maintenance requirements

Develop Standard Operating Procedures and Method of Procedure for electrical and control systems operating guidelines

Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical equipment to resolve issues or improve efficiencies.

Lead the electrical design of complex projects

Maintain a good relationship with vendors, host monthly meetings, performance review, forecast and coordinate EOL equipment refreshes, budget management/forecasting
