About the role
As R&D Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of mechanical hardware engineers in the design, development, and commercialization of innovative electronic medical equipment (EME) within the Interventional Cardiology (IC) division of Boston Scientific
Your responsibilities include:
- Hiring, coaching, and/or developing mechanical engineering talent.
- Assessing mechanical project team needs accross IC and working with technical leads and program managers to ensure they are set up for technology and product development success.
- Providing direction and/or guidance to mechanical engineers who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments. Will also supervise non-exempt employees and external contract design firms.

- Monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. compliance with FDA, BSI, EEO regulations, etc.).
- Making decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve department objectives.
- Developing, monitoring and appropriately adjusting the annual budget for department.
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or more from accredited school in Mechanical, Biotechnical, Biomedical or Electromechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years experience in medical equipment or medical device design
- Demonstrated capability to produce innovative solutions for complex technical problems.
- Personal drive, individual accountability & a strong bias for action.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in recent role
- Willingness to work onsite at our Maple Grove, MN location 3+ days per week
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Experience with Class II or Class III medical device product development
- 2+ years of experience in direct management of mechanical engineers
- Cross functional experience in working with external manufacturing partners, operations and test engineering and process development
