Skills and attributes for success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly preferred
  • + 8 years of relevant experience in accounting within the insurance industry, with a focus on team leadership and management
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP) and advanced skills in MS Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a deep understanding of IFRS standards and regulatory requirements
  • Proven leadership abilities, with strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a diverse team

Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Center of Expertise, local CFOs and other SCOR stakeholders to ensure alignment on financial processes, reporting quality, and achievement of SLAs and KPIs
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regional and country CFOs, ensuring clarity and alignment on deliverables and reports
  • Take ownership of the quality and timely execution of all deliverables, while effectively managing stakeholder expectations in a governance model where CFOs hold ultimate accountability

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support to junior and senior staff
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging professional development and continuous learning

Accounting Oversight:

  • Manage and oversee all accounting tasks, including journal postings for technical and non-technical topics, cash settlements, and closing activities in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, OMEGA)
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in accounting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments related to IFRS17 and other relevant standards

Reconciliation and Analysis:

  • Lead reconciliation processes for intercompany operations, bank accounts, and general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial results, including claims movements, technical results, and expense trends, providing insights to senior management

Audit & Compliance Management:

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
  • Provide support to local finance teams for internal and external audits, preparing necessary documentation and addressing audit queries effectively

Process Improvement and Systems Management:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Oversee the use of accounting systems (e.g., SAP, OMEGA) and reporting tools, ensuring data integrity and effective financial management

Strategic Reporting and Communication:

  • Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators and strategic insights
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial processes with organizational goals and objectives
