As a Corporate Counsel you will provide broad legal support for Microsoft’s commercial activities in Italy, which includes providing legal advice on a wide range of topics, such as data protection, regulatory matters, and contract law to internal stakeholders. Together with internal colleagues, you will analyze, consider and work through strategic matters, which arise for Microsoft in Italy. This opportunity will allow you to finetune your legal skills in a fast-paced environment and become an expert on legal issues, which did not exist a year ago. As part of our hybrid working environment, you will be able to partially work from home.

Required/Minimum Qualifications (RQs/MQs)

  • Juris Doctor, a masters of law, LL.M. OR international equivalent degree
    • OR completion of a legal apprenticeship.
  • Active license to practice law in Italy or capable of meeting admission requirements in Italy.
  • extensive years experience as a practicing attorney OR equivalent practice of law.
  • Fluency in Italian and English in speech and writing.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications (PQs)

  • Lawfirm experience, and ideally a mix of lawfirm and in-house counsel experience.
  • Documented experience in working on legal industry matters, or on similar novel and complex legal matters.
  • Experience in working in an international environment.
Responsibilities
  • You will act as the primary legal contact for assigned clients and execute on both routine as well as high-impact legal matters and serve as contributor to clients and colleagues about legal and related business matters (e.g. data protection, intellectual property and regulatory matters).
  • You will identify and anticipate legal risks in the Microsoft business, technology, and public policy, then develop creative solutions to mitigate future risk. You’ll also manage and develop partnerships with outside counsel, draft novel policies and agreements, and negotiate transactional documents.
  • You will advocate for Microsoft’s interests by developing relationships with a variety of legal professionals, government officials, customers, and partners. You’ll also engage industry, business, and legal groups to drive our policy objectives, and take part in external outreach initiatives.
  • You will evaluate processes for improvement, develop policies and best practices, and provide continuous feedback to make the delivery of legal services within your work group significantly more efficient. You’ll also model compliance, privacy, and data security.
  • You will ​​ensure a coordinated Legal and Corporate Affairs voice through broad collaboration across groups, management, and leaders. This will involve organizing and simplifying complex issues, and recommending clear courses of action.
