Coreboot is the equivalent of BIOS and is found in all x86 ChromeOS devices.
The CCG CCE Chrome and Linux Client Platform Engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer with expertise in BIOS and Coreboot.
This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of innovation, collaborating closely with Intel engineers, Google, the Open-Source Community, OEM/ODM customers, OSVs, and IHVs.
As a key member of our team, you will support ChromeOS, Android, and Linux throughout the planning, development, and validation stages of various programs.
You will be the primary technical contact for Coreboot and BIOS, working alongside technical PMs, software integration engineers, hardware engineers, and manufacturing engineers to deliver Intel Architecture (IA)-based ChromeOS, Android, and Linux products.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in UEFI BIOS on either Intel Architecture (IA) or other processor/microprocessor architectures.
Strong knowledge of BIOS, bootloader, or coreboot development.
Proficiency in C and/or C++ programming.
Familiar with JTAG debuggers, such as Lauterbach, Intel ITP, etc.
Experience with scripting languages, particularly Python.
Excellent collaboration and debugging skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional and cross-organizational teams.
Good technical communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred qualifications:
Familiarity with ChromeOS, Android, and Linux ecosystems.
Expertise in silicon and system debugging.
Proficiency in open-source development workflows, including tools like Git, Gerrit, and CI/CD practices.
Proven experience working with open-source communities and contributing to upstream projects.
