The CCG/PEG/CCE Chrome and Linux Client Platform Engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer with expertise in audio technologies. This role provides the opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation, working closely with Intel engineers, Google, the Open-Source Community, OEM/ODM customers, OSVs, IHVs, and ISVs. As a pivotal team member, you will support ChromeOS, Android and Linux throughout the planning, development, and validation stages of various programs. The jobs are including, but not limited to:
Collaborate with Google on audio enablement for ChromeOS and Android, including audio driver and SW development.
Partner with OSVs such as Canonical and RedHat to enable audio functionality for Linux.
Provide audio enabling and debugging support for OEMs and ODMs, including:
Work with IHVs, including Realtek, TI and Cirrus-Logic, to enable audio codecs (headset, speaker amplifiers, and microphones) for ChromeOS, Android, and Linux.
Collaborate with ISVs such as Xperi/DTS and Waves on DSP integration and enablement.
Develop tools and scripts for verification, validation, and automation.
Engage with the open-source community to contribute and upstream code.
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in the IT industry.
Solid knowledge of Linux driver development.
Strong expertise in audio technologies, including drivers, codecs, and DSPs.
Familiarity with ChromeOS, Android, and Linux ecosystems.
Proficiency in C and/or C++ programming.
Experience with scripting languages, particularly Python.
Understanding of x86 architecture (preferred but not mandatory).
Familiarity with IO standards such as I2C, I2S, SoundWire and/or HDA.
Proficiency in open-source development workflows, including tools like Git, Gerrit, and CI/CD practices.
Proven experience working with open-source communities and contributing to upstream projects.
Excellent collaboration and debugging skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional and cross-organizational teams.
Good technical communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
