When it comes to the most challenging environmental issues facing our communities today, we’re focused on developing and delivering the most innovative solutions to improve our tomorrow. We’re looking for an Environmental Scientist to work with our Water Resources team. You’ll work alongside other Environmental Scientists and Engineers on a wide range of projects for key municipal and private sector clients.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Managing and delivering a wide range of projects and tasks including data analysis and interpretation, technical report writing, and participating in meetings with clients and regulators.
  • Support capital improvement projects related to water treatment, quality monitoring, storage, and distribution, including regulatory compliance.
  • Support capital improvement projects related to wastewater treatment, quality monitoring, and conveyance, including regulatory compliance.
  • Serving as technical lead for project deliverables including environmental data, reports, and permitting.
  • Support senior staff in the local and regional water and wastewater groups.
  • Strengthening Jacob's relationships with local municipalities and client representatives, as well as facilitating collaboration with local, state, and federal environmental agencies.

Your work could include stream assessments, plant surveys, wetland delineations, habitat characterization, data management, statistical analysis, or protocol wildlife species surveys as appropriate to your background and interests.

This is a hybrid position where you’ll be afforded the flexibility to work from both the office as well as from home to meet project delivery goals while maintaining balance.

Here's what you'll need
  • Advanced degree or doctorate in Natural Sciences or Environmental Science from an accredited college or university or other closely relateddegree.
  • 12 to 15 years of professional experience delivering environmental science projects.
  • Attributes that include good oral and written communication, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, strong data analysis and technical problem solving, and a strong organizational approach.
  • Experience leading teams toward a common goal.
  • Proven track record working with stakeholders and the scientific community.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Experience with wetland/surface waters delineation and permitting, urban stream restoration, habitat assessment, ecological surveys, and field data collection including familiarity with electronic data collection and mapping software such as ArcGIS Survey 123, Field Maps, and ArcGIS Pro and water quality instrumentation.
  • Professional Certification or pathway started for certification such as Certified Wildlife Biologist, Certified Environmental Professional, or Professional Wetland Scientist certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with state environmental regulations and established relationships and coordination experience with state and federal fish and wildlife agencies in the Southeastern regions of the U.S.
  • Interest in working abroad occasionally as work needs arise.
