This role is tasked with driving profitable growth bygross margins, ensuring sustainable unit economics for emerging Consumer AI products, and enabling strategic investments across these segments. The position requires close partnership with engineering and product teams, aiming to influence multi-year planning and to ensure alignment of finance strategy with Microsoft’s long-term. Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 10+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing direct reports.
  • 3+ years of financialframeworkand modeling skills, including Excelproficiencyand experience with financial systems.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • 3+ years experience managing direct reports.
  • 5+ years experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
  • 5+ years work experience in matrix-based organization.
  • 5+ years work experience in the technology or software industry.
  • 10+ years of finance experience in roles such as financial planning & analysis, business partnership, or strategy,demonstratinga track recordof impact. This should include hands-on management of budgeting and forecasting, as well as influencing business outcomes through financial insight.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field (required). An MBA or relevant advanced degree is highly preferred due to the strategic nature of the position.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills. Proven ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights and recommendations for leadership. Comfortable presenting to and influencingC-level stakeholders and effective at building partnerships across finance, engineering, marketing, and other groups.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft’s internal tools and Power BI.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including managing teams or large projects. Skilled at coaching and developing talent, with a history of fostering an inclusive team culture aligned with Microsoft’s values.
  • Strategic thinker with business acumen, capable of connecting financial outcomes to broader business strategy. Experience in the techindustry,especially cloud services, SaaS, or AI-driven productsand cloud infrastructureis highly valued.
  • Change agent mindset: creative in problem-solving and willing to improve existing processes. Experience driving process improvements or implementing new financial frameworks in ambiguous or evolving business scenarios is desirable.

Financial Analysis M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. Responsibilities
  • Own Margin Strategy & Financial Results: Lead gross margin management for Search & Copilot, Office Consumer, Windows 365, and AI frontier model. Ensure these businesses achieve their financial targets and make strategic trade-offs to balance cost discipline with growth investments. Rigorously manage non-AI costs to allow for AI innovation while meeting margin commitments. Monitor financial performance and proactively address margin gaps or risks.
  • Strategic Business Partnership: Serve as the key finance partner to cross-functional teams, including Engineering (product development), Marketing, and Business Planning. Collaborate in developing product and go-to-market strategies byprovidingfinancial insights on pricing, cost structure, and ROI. Workacrossfinance and engineering to create pricing frameworks that are sustainable and repeatable, protectingmarginhealth. Influence product launch decisions based on analysis of customer revenue opportunities versus infrastructure costs.
  • Pricing Frameworks & Unit Economics: Develop and refine pricing and economics models for new offerings and AI capabilities in the consumer portfolio. Lead efforts toestablishapricing framework with product teams,optimizingprice points and cost allocations to ensure new AI features drive customer value and revenue without compromising long-term margin. Ensure that pricing strategies are data-driven, aligned with market dynamics, and support Microsoft’s broader cloud economics principles.
  • Capacity Planning & AI Investment Optimization: Lead financial planning for capacity and infrastructure related to AI training and inferencing. Partner with engineering to forecast and manage usage of GPUs, servers, and datacenter resources for AIworkloads. Establish processes that align engineering needs with budgeted capacity, prioritize investments, and ensure affordability. Provide financial guidance for major AI infrastructure expenditures (CAPEX and OPEX), focusing on efficient resource use and ROI-based scaling decisions.

  • Financial Frameworks & Analytics: Develop and implement financial models to enhance transparency and support decision-making. Allocate costs and investments by product, introduce new metrics for efficiency and margin improvement, and promote performance measurement frameworks in changing business environments.
