We are currently looking for Site Lead Commercial and Contracts Manager to be based on our Project Site. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of our on-site operations, managing all commercial and contractual elements of our energy and power projects. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating the intricate landscape of contract negotiations, risk management, and financial oversight, ensuring our projects remain profitable and aligned with our strategic goals.Office based engineering design staff will also provide support to the site team in case of design changes which may arise during site execution and may affect the basic design of the plant.
You will see yourself working on a Mega project that’s never been developed before and part of a growing business.
Responsibilities not limited to;
- Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure all contracts align with company policies and project objectives.
- Maintain a comprehensive contract database and documentation system.
- Monitor contract performance and ensure all parties meet their obligations.
- Identify and resolve contractual issues promptly.
- Commercial Oversight:
- Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximize project profitability.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for project decisions.
- Manage project budgets, including forecasting and cost control.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
- Risk Management:
- Assess and analyze commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Maintain a risk register and regularly update project stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Change Management:
- Evaluate and process change orders and variations.
- Negotiate terms for project changes with clients and subcontractors.
- Assess the impact of changes on project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Ensure proper documentation and approval of all project changes.
- Claims Management:
- Identify potential claims and develop strategies for resolution.
- Prepare and submit claims documentation.
- Negotiate settlements and represent the company in dispute resolution processes.
- Collaborate with legal counsel when necessary.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary commercial point of contact for the project site.
- Liaise between project teams, senior management, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on commercial aspects of the project.
- Facilitate resolution of commercial disputes among project parties.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor junior commercial and contracts team members.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other technical staff.
- Ensure effective communication of commercial information across the project team.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and relevant regulations.
- Implement process improvements in commercial and contracts management.
- Contribute to the development of company-wide commercial policies and procedures.
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Law, or related field; MBA or relevant master's degree preferred.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Commercial Contract Manager (CCCM) or similar are advantageous.
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in commercial and contracts management, with at least 5 years in energy or power projects.
- In-depth knowledge of contract law, energy regulations, and industry standards (e.g., FIDIC, NEC).
- Strong financial acumen and ability to analyze complex financial data.
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to influence at all levels of an organization.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and contract management software.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel and work on-site for extended periods.
