This role offers a unique chance to utilize your problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment as a Vice President, supporting the operational risk function for the Securities Services business across Asia Pacific. As part of the Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk (CCOR) group within the Risk Management and Compliance organization, you will execute the CCOR program, managing the firm’s compliance, conduct, and operational risk. Your role will be instrumental in responsibly expanding the firm's Securities Services business by anticipating new and emerging risks.
As a Vice President in the Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk (CCOR) group, you will have the unique opportunity to support the operational risk function for the Securities Services business across Asia Pacific. You will be instrumental in managing the firm’s compliance, conduct, and operational risk, and play a key role in responsibly expanding the firm's Securities Services business by anticipating new and emerging risks. Job responsibilities
- Support the Operational Risk function for the Securities Services business across APAC.
- Engage with the business to continually improve operational risk processes and business operating models, support safe business growth, and inform and influence risk-based decision making.
- Independently assess operational risks and control environments and raise issues for the first Line of Defense to remediate where relevant. Assessments are done through quantitative and qualitative means including - Periodic risk assessments (at the legal entity and risk stripe levels).
- Review of performance against Key Performance Indicators.
- Collaborating with the CCOR Testing team to test the effectiveness of controls.
- Provide operational risk oversight in key governance forums including reviewing and challenging risks, processes and controls identified by the first Line of Defense (LoD); escalate to regional committees and liaise with regulators as needed.
- Understand and assess key and emerging operational risks for the business including staying abreast of industry news and regulatory developments to facilitate proactive risk identification and mitigation.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Minimum University/Bachelor’s Degree with extensive financial industry experience
- Experience of Custody, Fund Services, Wholesale Payments, Commercial Banking or other relevant wholesale financial services products
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex business processes, analyze potential risks and think outside the box
- Ability and proven track record of providing constructive challenge to proactively identify operational risk
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Ability to understand risks and their drivers and to form, articulate and explain views including effective interaction with senior management
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, make independent decisions and work with limited supervision while exceling in a dynamic, demanding environment
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to drive change
