Operational Risk Management (ORM) is part of Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk (CCOR), within the Risk Management and Compliance organization. You will be responsible for the execution of the CCOR program, which consists of the second line of defense’s responsibilities in managing the firm’s compliance, conduct, and operational risk.
As an Operational Risk Manager, APAC Lead for Securities Services, Vice President within CCOR, you will help the firm grow its Securities Services business in a responsible way by anticipating new and emerging risks. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that the firm not only complies with regulatory requirements but also fosters a culture of risk awareness and proactive management. Moreover, you will play a pivotal role in crisis management, providing critical insights and leadership during times of operational stress. Your impact will influence not just the firm's risk profile, but also its reputation and long-term sustainability.
Job responsibilities:
- Managing the APAC regional team of Securities Services Operational Risk Officers
- Assessing operational risk and control environments and raise issues for the first Line of Defence (LoD) to remediate where relevant. Assessments are done through quantitative and qualitative means including:
- Assessing periodic risk (at the legal entity and risk stripe levels)
- Reviewing performance against Key Performance Indicators
- Collaborating with the CCOR Testing team to test the effectiveness of controls
- Providing operational risk oversight in key governance forums including reviewing and challenging risks, processes and controls identified by the first LoD; escalate to regional committees and liaise with regulators as needed
- Engaging with the business to continually improve operational risk processes and business operating models, support safe business growth, and inform and influence risk-based decision making
- Understanding and assessing key and emerging operational risks for the business including staying abreast of industry news and regulatory developments to facilitate proactive risk identification and mitigation
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance or a related field with proven financial industry experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ of experience with risk management, control management, product control, compliance or audit in the financial industry
- Experience of Custody, Fund Services, Wholesale Payments, Commercial Banking or other relevant wholesale financial services products
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex business processes, analyze potential risks and think outside the box
- Ability and proven track record of providing constructive challenge to proactively identify operational risk
- Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to understand risks and their drivers and to form and explain articulate views including effective interaction with senior management
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities, make independent decisions and work with limited supervision while exceling in a dynamic, demanding environment
