Design new battery components that improve product metrics (performance, cost, mass)
Own basic testing and analysis; support advanced testing and analysis
Develop various test jigs and fixtures to validate battery components
Design 3D/2D models of complex parts and assemblies
Root cause test failures and process/manufacturing issues
Collaborate with other teams inside Tesla (manufacturing, testing, NPI, supply chain, etc.)
Create sources of truth to reference important findings
What You’ll Bring
Currently working towards a BS, MS, or advanced degree in a relevant engineering program such as Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals, such as mechanics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, material properties and basic electronics
Demonstrated hands-on abilities (e.g. machine shop skills, technical hobbies/academic projects, etc.) - Experience with student Formula Vehicle, Solar Car, etc. is a plus
Proficiency in CAD modeling. CATIA V5/V6 and 3DX experience is a plus
Strong knowledge of tolerance analysis, applying GD&T, finite element analysis (FEA), and basic thermal models
Detail-oriented personality with top-tier documentation and reporting skills
