The internship assignment:

Our mechanical team is responsible for designing the following systems:

  • General ventilation, Lab ventilation, kitchen ventilation, dust collecting systems, VOC abatement systems, smoke exhaust systems, dry air supply, clean room ventilation, etc.

  • Process heating water, domestic heating systems.

  • Chilled water and process cooling water, heat pump systems.

  • Domestic potable water, industrial water, sewage/ condensate, vacuum drainage, gray water/rainwater systems.

We drive our designs as fast as our car can accelerate. You will be part of our highly qualified, innovative, and welcoming team of mechanical engineering experts, and you will help us accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

You will help developing mechanical systems design including creation of construction drawings, schematics, BOQs, sequence of operations, calculations as well as as-built documentation.

What You’ll Do
  • Create construction drawings using Revit and AutoCAD according to VDI 6026 LPH 5 standard.
  • Implement as-built documents and review field changes.
  • Create equipment schedules.Create Bill Of Quantities (BOQs) from Revit.
  • Create schematics/P&IDs for mechanical systems using AutoCAD.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations using PipeFlo and thermal load calculations with HAP software.
  • Work and maintain the 3D Revit model of our Gigafactory, by working closely with team members and align with the mechanical engineer to translate the conceptual design into executable 3D designs.
  • Solve clashes within the Revit model to ensure the design is coordinated across all disciplines.
  • Coordinate the mechanical systems in the Revit model with laser scans showing current installation.
  • Review models and clashes in Navisworks software.
  • Site visits.
What You’ll Bring
  • Working towards a Bachelor’s/master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in modelling and detailing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Following software expertise is a plus: Navisworks, BIM360, Bluebeam.
  • Proficient in English, German language skills preferred or willing to learn.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving oriented.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as in an organized and independent manner.
  • Ability to analyze problems and find solutions in a structured manner.
