As a Merchant Risk Credit Officer - Associate in the Portfolio Management team, you will be responsible for managing credit risk arising from merchant processing activities through ongoing credit monitoring, analyzing financial statements, determining appropriate risk ratings, and exerting credit approval authority. You will also be responsible for driving consistency and quality while monitoring timeliness through secondary quality assessments.
Job Responsibilities
- Approve credit assessments and reviews for timely and accurate risk ratings up to a designated approval authority limit
- Complete quality assessments on a sub-set of credit reviews within defined timeframes and escalating any identified trends, as appropriate
- Recognize possible risks that a client's business may pose to the firm while providing recommendations and escalations to mitigate such risks
- Conduct ad-hoc credit assessments identified through periodic exception reporting
- Remain up to date on applicable risk policies and support the governance, reporting and data quality requirements
- Support the Merchant Services Credit Risk team with ongoing initiatives and work streams
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related area
- Strong, clear, and concise written and verbal communication with ability to edit and prepare executive level communications
- Excellent organizational and project management skills; able to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines and a constantly changing environment
- High degree of initiative, self-direction, ability to work well under pressure, and learn quickly
- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to take on responsibilities that may fall outside your immediate area of expertise
- Ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholder groups and regions. Appreciate the value of working in partnership with others to influence change and accomplish individual and team goals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
