As a Lead Credit Officer - Vice President, you will manage a team of Credit Officers responsible for the oversight, management and approval of existing extensions of credit and credit risk for Merchant Services. Responsibilities include analysis of credit, identifying risks, conducting due diligence, exerting credit approval authority, monitoring performance of counterparties and performing reviews of credit risk limits. In addition to credit risk, the Merchant Services Risk Management team is also focused on a myriad of process improvement projects. You may manage one or more programs, projects or initiatives from idea to execution, which may be product-or process-aligned.

Job responsibilities

  • Manage a team of credit officers providing guidance and thought leadership with meaningful and defined accountability.
  • Perform credit assessments and reviews up to a designated approval authority limit and recognizes possible risks that an issuer/ client's business may pose to the organization while providing recommendations and escalations to mitigate such risks.
  • Set the team’s priorities, directs activities, monitors progress, and drives for results
  • Monitor exception reporting for significant issues and works with appropriate stakeholders to understand issues, approve resolution plans and escalate potential problems to senior management.
  • Perform collateral valuation and analysis, evaluation of accounting system controls and data integrity and managerial control reviews, elevating significant findings and areas of concerns.
  • Partner effectively with stakeholders and display strategic thought leadership and accountability for results.
  • Manage risk & controls, provide trend analysis, engage with senior leaders and drive process improvements.
  • Create and maintain robust policies, procedures, standards, and job aids in line with document governance practices
  • Execute the department’s strategic vision and agenda and works with stakeholders across functions to deliver on initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to enhance Risk processes and participates in projects and solutions.


Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field
  • 6+ years of professional experience in Wholesale Credit Risk
  • 3+ years of management experience within financial services
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to analyze credit structures, identify and mitigate credit risks and make informed decisions
  • Attention to detail and ability to learn complex processes that affect various functions and business units within Credit Risk Management
  • Ability to identify problems and propose solutions
  • Thinks strategically and creatively when faced with problems and opportunities
  • Demonstrates leadership skills including willingness to own initiatives and drive projects to completion
  • Strong sense of accountability with ability to operate independently with confidence, to interact credibly with business stakeholders and to build strong partnerships across a global organization
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and hard working with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-starter with a collaborative mindset to foster teamwork
