The team also acts as a center of expertise by:
- Advising on risk-appropriate insurance requirements in vendor contracts and RFPs.
- Supporting M&A due diligence to ensure appropriate strategic insurance responses throughout transactions.
Job Purpose
This role manages complex insurance claims, acting as a key liaison among internal stakeholders, insurers, and external service providers. The incumbent will drive resolution strategies for significant claims, offer technical guidance, and contribute to proactive risk control measures.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the management of complex claims (e.g., liability, property, cyber, fraud / crime, professional liability, Directors & Officers' liability).
- Represent the bank in alternate dispute resolution forums, including mediations, pre-trials, and trials.
- Act as primary contact with insurance carriers, TPAs, adjusters, and internal stakeholders (e.g., Risk, Legal, HR, Sourcing, Marketing, and Real Estate).
- Report and log claims in the internal operational loss reporting system according to threshold criteria.
- Maintain claim reserves and provide quarterly reporting to Finance on complex matters.
- Identify emerging claims trends and recommend risk control measures.
- Develop business cases to support investment in risk mitigation initiatives.
- Engage with business units to socialize risk recommendations and build alignment.
- Deliver presentations and communications to stakeholders and management.
- Respond to routine certificate of insurance requests and coordinate policy issuance with brokers and business units.
- Consult on insurance clauses for key contracts in areas such as SSG, lending, leasing, marketing, and real estate.
- Provide strategic guidance based on industry and enterprise-level awareness.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and continuous process improvement.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing moderate to complex claims with significant financial exposure.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to interpret data and inform decisions.
- Effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills; adept at influencing across functions.
- Highly organized and comfortable navigating fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Independent and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to drive outcomes through ambiguity.
- Experience coaching or mentoring others is an asset.
- Adept at building cross-functional relationships to support enterprise objectives.
