As a Cassandra Level 2 Engineer Support at JPMorgan Chase, you'll perform Cassandra Database Administration tasks like Proactive Monitoring of Provision queue and trouble shooting various Provisioning failures, performance tuning, monitor query execution, setting up Cohesity Backup and identify any bug and report to Engineering team. You will support managed service of Cassandra on On-prem Cloud and on Amazon. You will be coordinating with application team, SRE Team, Cassandra Engineering Team and other downstream services on AWS platforms. You will utilize your AWS cloud computing expertise to meet the needs of clients using cloud native tools.
Job responsibilities
  • NoSQL Cassandra DB (Analyzes, designs, engineers, installs, configures and supports Database Management systems in support of business technology requirements; Includes an in depth knowledge of a core database technology and its internals plus knowledge of development practices and automated solutions with focus on customer self-service through API enablement, provisioning, resiliency and database performance)
  • Production support with SRE/DevOps Process
  • AWS Knowledge and Terraform exposure.
  • Develops, Tests, and debugs automated software deliverables for Applications, Systems, and or Infrastructures
  • Troubleshoots Major Incidents, contributes to blameless post-mortems.
  • Engages within the SRE/Engineering team throughout the software development and participates in major code contributions.
  • Interacts with analytics, incident management systems, as well as operations teams to identify usage patterns for predicting issues.
  • Drives adoption of automated systems, infrastructure, and software practices.
  • Actively participates in performance tests, and documents or identifies the bottlenecks, opportunities for optimization and capacity performance.
  • Utilizes monitoring frameworks to accomplish end to end flow monitoring and noiseless alerting with proper telemetry.
  • Participates in the deployment of software and product upgrades.
  • Works with team to complete tasks to high quality and actively learns new skills.
  • Self-manages the effort split between operational work and engineering work.
  • Be part of the rotational support coverage as needed.
  • Collaborates effectively with other team members.
  • Accountable for making significant decisions for a project consisting of multiple technologies and applications
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • NoSQL experience on Cassandra
  • Production support with SRE/DevOps process.
  • AWS Knowledge and Terraform exposure.
  • Proficient in at least one software language (e.g. Python, Java, Go, etc.) with respect to designing, coding, testing, and software delivery.
  • Self starting practitioner in one or more technology domains, may be capable to work across domains to solve problems.
  • Proficient knowledge of one or more infrastructure components. (E.g. networking, cloud services, orchestration tools, containerized systems, compute and storage systems)
  • Capable of managing service-level changes to a system or service, and troubleshooting system level components.
  • Operates within performance management, monitoring and capacity tools.
  • Able to work on larger projects that have more impact, an is self-initiated. Should be able to provide supporting data or communicate business value of the projects.
  • Capable of working effectively within an Agile team
  • Experience in using software development tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GIT/Bitbucket & Jenkins.
