About the Opportunity

  • As a Principal Environmental Scientist you will be involved in the coordination and review of Water Environment EIAR chapters for major infrastructure and flood management projects across the UK and Ireland.
  • Undertaking technical reviews in hydrology, water quality, flood risk or hydromorphology to support EIAR chapters.
  • Ensuring the environmental deliverables and financial performance of projects are maintained to a high standard.
  • Managing components of a project by taking responsibility for resource, subcontractors and ensuring effective communication of any changes/modifications.
  • Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the overall integrity of infrastructure designs.
  • Promoting team development through resource management, line management, and mentoring.
  • Building and developing relationships with clients on projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with H&S regulations and promoting a culture of caring within the team.
Here's what you'll need
  • A good degree qualification in a relevant environmental subject is essential. A second degree e.g. MSc or higher qualification is desirable.
  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body is desirable.
  • Demonstratable experience of working with major infrastructure clients (e.g. National Highways, SEPA, Transport Scotland) undertaking Water Environment EIA is desirable.
  • Proven experience of technical review skills and ability to programme, run and complete high quality environmental assessments is essential.
  • An excellent understanding of key environmental legislation, policy and issues is essential.
