The AWS Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) is hiring a Software Development Engineer to develop our data applications and infrastructure with a focus on supporting device and architecture theory and device design. You will work closely with other Software Development Engineers, Research Scientists, and a Technical Program Manager.Key job responsibilities
* Work directly with scientists and engineers to understand their problems and propose workable solutions. Translate user stories into software design documents demonstrating sensible trade-offs between complexity and delivery.
* Implementation of design proposals in a logical and maintainable manner. Taking ownership over the stability and quality of the software stack by identifying, proposing, and implementing features that will accelerate our realization of quantum computing technologies.
* Identify bottlenecks, pain points, integration issues, and develop improvements to the design team's workflows.Example projects include:* Build and maintain cloud infrastructure to facilitate physics simulation workloads.
* Develop a framework enabling research scientists to orchestrate and administer their simulations.
* Enhance the modeling and error estimation capabilities of simulation pipelines by incorporating advanced statistical techniques.
* Design database schemas modeling processes and artifacts of our processor design workflow

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship experience in system design, including design patterns, reliability and scaling aspects

- MSc or PhD in a STEM discipline
- Strong background in numerical computing, simulation, and data processing
- Experience programming with Julia and Python
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Experience developing design verification and electronic design automation tools
- Experience working with scientists in a research environment
